Exactly what I needed. These are hard to find locally. My McLane Edger was purchased 1n February 1990. It still runs strong to this day.

Technology and design have been around for a while. I bought my first one in the early 80s and used it for 15 years. Great machine and only replaced blades and one belt. New machine came partially assembled. All but handles, and that is when the problem began. The bracket that holds the blade assembly to the frame had a sharp corner and the handle could not move up into the neutral position so the belt could not release. I almost totally disassembled the unit (even removed the motor) to get to the bolts and nuts. Removed the bracket and used my grinder to remove about 3/8 inch off the sharp edge or corner, bought some washers for spacers to allow the tube to operate full range. Put it all back together, filled it with oil and gas and it started, ran and operated perfectly. They are so much better than a stick edger. A friend of mine taught me how to adjust the angle of the blade to cut around trees to create a border and mulch bed. The Briggs engine starts with one pull and the unit is easy to push and operate. Just like I remembered from the old one I had. That one came fully assembled and never needed any adjustments. I can't tell it is any different from my first one. I think the paint is even the same color.

For starters, this edger is made in the USA. It is almost a miracle to find US made products anymore so this was a most pleasant find. This edger replaced a Sears edger which, as with most Sears products I have purchased, was made in China. It was a piece of junk but enough about Sears.
The McLane edger was easy to assemble. After assembly and adding gas and oil the engine started up easily. The edger has two front wheels which makes for easy and comfortable handling.
This is a quality edger and is a most satisfactory purchase.

The Arnold blades are way nicer. These look quite generic and don't have the sharpness. These aren't sharp at all actually. Probably doesn't make a whole lot of difference since I'm sure they still get the job done. They are made in the USA, like the Arnold. Just the Arnold blades are better.
