I bought this weed eater edger five yrs. ago on a recommendation from my son in law. He said running this little machine was the best part in taking care of his yard. I totally agree. Check the screws that hold the gear box together occasionally. I also would recommend taking the gear box apart (easy), and squirt a little lubricant on the gears....once maybe twice a year depending on size of yard of course.

First day on the job it took 45 min to get it started. Lasted 10 minutes and died. It spent one month in a repair shop. They did all they could, it still takes forever to get it started. Dont waist your money.

A decent household unit - not for commercial use. Be wary of the recoil getting stuck in the "out" position. You need to tear the thing completely apart (not a job for the average home user) to reset the thing. You're almost better off buying new if you ever get the recoil stuck.

I've owned two of these, for the price they're great home owner edgers. The first one I had didn't really die, the pull start cord just wore out (after about 5 yrs) and I just bought another rather than replace the recoil mechanism. Not sure why the recoil would wear out, it started fine every year which is why I bought another. Anyway, I actually like this unit better than the larger more expensive ones because it's small and easy to handle and uses less storage space. For major edging (like taking 10" off the lawn) you need to go a little slower but not any big deal, it cuts thru it fine, for your typical beginning of the year edge and trims thru the summer this is a great little edger.

My wife and I bought this unit just over a year ago.
It has always had issues starting, and is really hard to get a decent edge with.
Now, just nicely outside of warranty, the starting cord completely broke off from within the housing.
After Googling this, I found the start cable is a common flaw.
There is no easy way to get in to re-attach the broken cord without, it appears, dismantling the entire machine.
The only option is to take it to a weed eater approved repair shop and throw more money into it.
I would advise to go with a cheaper electric edger, as we wasted over $150 on something that was only used maybe 20 times.
